About Us

Blakemere lies in beautiful countryside on the Shropshire / Cheshire border , just 2km from the small market town of Whitchurch.

It is owned and managed by Dave and Nic Marvell , who live with their young family over-looking the lake . They share a passion for the countryside , nature and fishing ( although Dave's passion for fishing runs a bit stronger than Nic's !!! ).

Dave's lifelong ambition like so many anglers, was to own his own lake, and his work will continue over the next few years to create a top quality mixed fishery with the aim of providing sport for all, free from crowds and in comfortable and beautiful surroundings.

The vision for Blakemere is to provide a fishery that has the potential to produce a PB at any time, but more importantly to provide pleasure in simply fishing, not just catching big fish all the time. There are plenty of man made pools stuffed full of carp, where you can sit right alongside 15 or so other anglers in pursuit of big 30lb + fish. The current lake record common is 32.04 with one other scraper 30 and record mirror is 28.12 Blakemere is about the experience of fishing for quality fish in natural surroundings, with limited numbers of anglers.

Blakemere may be open as a day ticket fishery by the end of September 2010. Please watch the website for updates regarding the opening. Numbers will be strictly limited per day. Special days will be set aside for matches and charity events, and the lake will close for a couple of weeks at least while the fish spawn, as and when it occurs.
